God bless our native land; Firm may she ever stand through storm and night! The Summer 2026 issue of the Concordia Historical Institute Quarterly (Volume 99, Number 2) commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. It accomplishes this by looking at the life of the Lutheran Church in our nation’s history via three articles.
ARTICLES
The first article is by C. George Fry and Duane W.H. Arnold, entitled, “Lutheranism in the United States of America (1483-1983)”.
The second article is by David Zersen, entitled, “Lutherans Choose New Political Directions in 1776”.
The third and last article is entitled, “The Legend of Peter Muhlenberg’s Empassioned Plea from the Pulpit” as retold by Henry Augustus Muhlenberg (1848).
