Hot off the presses! The Winter 2017 issue of the Concordia Historical Institute Quarterly (Vol. 90, no.4) has been received from our printer and has been delivered to our mail vendor.
The Winter 2017 issue provides some historical perspectives on the Lutheran Church. It accomplishes this through articles by Albert B. Collver III on “A Global Perspective on History and Archives”, as well as Jon D. Vieker’s “A Brief History of Contemporary Worship in the LCMS through the Eyes of Forrest Gump”, and finally with Richard H. Warneck’s article “Walther’s Pastoral Theology for Pastoral Ministry Today”. Three book reviews again are contained in this issue: John T. Pless reviews David W. Preus’ “Two Trajectories: J.A.O. Preus and David W. Preus”, William Wangelin reviews Warren R. Schmidt’s “Mama Buenger: Mother of a Synod” and the CHIQ editor, John C. Wohlrabe, Jr., reviews John W. Behnken’s “This I Recall”. This issue contains the Revised Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws of CHI, which were recently approved by the CHI membership at the annual Awards Banquet.
The Quarterly is sent to all members of the Institute. It is available as a subscription only without membership for $40.00 per year. Single copies are $10.00 for issues published during the past three years and $4.00 for earlier issues. Shipping and handling are extra for back issues.
