1858 Adolph Friedrich Theodor Biewend died (b. 6 May 1816). He was a professor at Concordia Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, 1849-1850, and Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, 1850 until his death.

1861 Gottfried John Wegener was born in Bremen, Germany (d. 25 November 1946, New Orleans, Louisiana). He was a graduate of Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis) in 1882 and served as a pastor at Dieterich and Altamont, Illinois, and at Saint Paul Lutheran Church (New Orleans). He was president of the Southern District from 1891 to 1927 and president of the Bethlehem Orphan Home in New Orleans for twenty-five years.

1995 Martin Luther Koehneke died (b. 11 April 1916). He graduated from Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis) in 1939 and served parishes in Texas and Illinois. From 1949 to 1950 he served as a circuit counselor and from 1950 to 1954 he was the counselor for parish education in the Texas District. He later served as president of Concordia Teachers College (River Forest, Illinois). From 1972 until his retirement in 1981 he was the senior vice-president of the Aid Association for Lutherans.
